THE CATHERINE'S PALACE — PUSHKIN
Duration 5h, from 25€
The gorgeous baroque-style Catherine Palace in Pushkin, formerly Tsarskoye Selo (Tsar’s Village), was a favourite summer residence of the Russian royal family. The highlight of the tour, which takes you around the house and grounds, is a visit to the famous Amber Room, destroyed by the Nazis during WWII and lovingly restored in 2003. On the 45-minute drive to Pushkin you’ll notice the juxtaposition of modern urban development and important historic sites – in stark contrast to the world-heritage protected city centre.
